History of the Southwest Cabarrus Rotary Club
The Rotary Club of Southwest Cabarrus was the last rotary club founded in the 20th Century. Founded in December 1999, we are a continuously growing club of 30 members.
The spirit and energy of its club members is the driving force of the Southwest Cabarrus club. In 2005-2006, under the leadership of Garrett Jenio the club serviced the Cabarrus Region and internationally on numerous levels. Our key fundraiser for the year was the First Annual Southern Open Golf Tournament. The fundraising we made through the tournament and other projects enabled us to support local organizations, such as the Jay M. Robinson Interact Club, Habitat for Humanity, Charlotte Rescue Mission, CVAN, and a number of student scholarships. Our key service areas included, building the Harrisburg Park Bike Trail, volunteering with the Cabarrus County March of Dimes Walk, the beautification of the Speedway Boulevard area, and Operation Christmas Child. We anticipate the 2006-2007 year, under the leadership of Dick Lewis, to continue to be a year full of growth in membership and service projects.
Current members who charted the club include:
